2022 Grant Agreements Begin to Roll Out
The first successful EMDG agreements have started coming through for FY2022, so we’d love to share what we already know with you.
Estimated Grant Amounts
Austrade received an unprecedented amount of applications for the new EMDG program (over 5,300).
Given the amount of applicants and the fact that funding is a set pool allocated per financial year, Austrade have adjusted their estimated grant amounts as per the below:
- Tier 1 – $15,000 per financial year
- Tier 2 – $23,000 per financial year
- Tier 3 – $35,000 per financial year
Austrade has confirmed that if the grant allocation for the financial year is not distributed in full, they may offer applicants extra funding based on their original application/spending.
Timing of Approvals
So far we only know that Tier 1 applications take priority in the review process with Austrade (Tier 2 & Tier 3 will follow in the next couple of months).
Tier 1 applications are expected to be approved by mid-March with the intention to pay out the upfront funds by the end of March 2022.
The schedule of Tier 1 payments will be as follows:
- $15K upfront for FY2022 (landing by late March)
Milestone acquittal reporting to be submitted by 30 Aug 2022
- Another $15K for FY2023 (payment date TBC)
Milestone acquittal reporting to be submitted by 30 Aug 2023
What’s Next
If applied for Tier 1, you will be notified of the decision shortly.
If application is successful, you will be asked to accept the EMDG contract with Austrade within 30 days of the grant agreement being received. This can be done via the MyGov portal.
